Iron Tide Command
Iron Tide Command drops you into coastal campaigns where you manage supply lines, fortify islands, and push back raiders in real time. What surprised me is how well it reads on a small screen — the fog of war and unit icons are clear even at a glance, and pinch-to-zoom is smooth.
The touch controls are the make-or-break for mobile strategy, and here they mostly nailed it. Drag to select groups, tap to issue orders, and a radial menu for building. There's a pause option mid-battle that I leaned on when things got chaotic, which feels fair rather than cheaty.
Sessions can run long if you let them, and that's where the battery takes a hit. I'd call it a plugged-in game for the big campaign missions. For skirmishes, though, a single match fits nicely into a coffee break.
What we liked
- Clear map and unit readability on small screens
- Pause-in-battle option for messy moments
- Good drag-select touch controls
